The Right Career Transition Program is Your Ticket to a Successful New Career

from: www.CareerExposed.com

A career transition program is very essential to those who have decided that they need a transition in their profession. There are three major types of career transition. First is the most common career transition people take – changing into a totally different profession. It’s when you change both your job description and industry. Example is if you’re a nurse who wants to be an events planner. This is the toughest change of all. And yet, many people take this change because they are not aware of the other possible changes that they can take.

Again, enrolling yourself in a career transition program by an expert will help you evaluate the type of change you want to take. You can also have your own career transition program with these helpful tips and guidelines. The second type of change is moving from one job description to another while staying in the same field. This is easier than the first, because you know the industry you are in. You can go from a formatting to proofreading but still be in a publishing company. You know the industry well enough to adjust to your new job description.

The third type which is also one of the easiest is getting the same job at a different industry. This is easiest of all because you do the same things you do from your previous job. There are only minor adjustments in learning about the industry. An example would be selling clothing and accessories in the fashion industry, to selling software in an Information Technology field. Though you have to learn your products and be familiar with it, the skills that you need in terms of selling are already familiar to you. In fact, you can already be an expert when it comes to convincing people to buy.

What a career transition program will do for you is help you discover which type of change do you really want and is most applicable to your situation as well. First, make a self discovery list. Write down all the things that you want to do, all the things you do best, all the things you are proud of, and all the things that your boss, colleagues, family and friends admire about you and seek advice from you. Once you get those skills and abilities written in paper, write the corresponding jobs that need those skills. For example, they love anything you cook. Then maybe you can be a good chef.

Filter out the jobs that come to mind and choose one that you are willing to do for the rest of your life. This job should excite you. Now that you’ve decided, it’s time to take action. The career transition program goes a long way. It involves job hunting up to moving to your new career. Again, if you’d like to seek expert’s advice, find a company that offers a career transition program which is perfect for you.
